In the Lead After the Short Dance!

Woo hoo! Meryl and Charlie are in first after the short dance and set a new world record score in the process! I’ve traveled with them to different key events throughout their career: Junior World Championships in Slovenia in 2006, their first senior World Championships the following year in Tokyo where they placed 7th in the world, the World Championships in 2011 in Moscow where they earned their first World title, at the World Championships last year where they won another World title and now here at the Olympic Games! They won the silver medal at the last Olympics in Vancouver.
Madison Chock and Evan Bates skated great as did the Shibutanis!! All 3 of our ice dance teams are in the top 10 at the Olympics- pretty darn good! Be sure to watch the free dance competition tonight where we will hopefully win a medal! And Madison and Evan’s program is one of the loveliest programs I have seen in a long time – breathtaking! And the Shibutani’s Michael Jackson program is also amazing and lots of fun!

Here are some photos after the short dance in the Kiss and Cry:

78.89 – New World Record score for the short dance!

Here’s a few shots from the ice dance practice earlier this morning (remember, I’m 11 hours ahead of Colorado so I was at the ice dance practice for their free dance tonight as you all were getting ready for bed Sunday night).

And yes, it is kind of strange that the 1st and 2nd place teams have the same coaching staff!
